Preparing to Open the Dog Park
By President, Mike Guido, August 25, 2010
The Board meeting held last week finalized the opening of the park on September 10. Jack Wright, who has led the construction will be coordinating the finishing touches on the park.
Marlene Eeg has been working on the final details for the opening ceremonies, invitations and program. Her time spent on this important detail is greatly appreciated, as are the efforts of each of our board members to ensure that the park is developed with thought and care.
Activities will begin September 7th with a variety of events planned to introduce you to the park and for members to learn the operating rules and guidelines for a safe, fun environment for our dogs.
An all-community event is planned for a Grand Opening to celebrate our new amenity. |
To ensure a smooth, successful Dog Park Opening, we will likely be doing some testing of the park with a few members' dogs to work out any issues. If you happen to see dogs and members in the park before the opening, we are merely conducting a test of the park.
Events Planned
Introduction for Non-Members | September 8th 4 pm At Dog Park Site
We will hold an informational meeting for those who may be interested in the dog park, but have questions or concerns. Please take a few minutes to read the Orientation information as it will likely answer many of the questions you may have.
New Member Orientation
Select One of These Sessions: September 7th or September 9th 3 pm
An orientation session for registered new members will be held to educate you on the dog park rules of operation and safety.
At 3 pm, owners only (no dogs) gather to review operations and rules for approximately 30-60 minutes and address questions. Location to be determined and sent out by email to all members. |
Afterwards, owners will go get their dogs for a handling orientation session at the dog park site to see how your dog will do with other dogs and be vetted into the park.
If either of these two dates are not convenient, members will need to schedule an orientation with one of the Board members listed on the "Contact Us" link.
Membership & Fundraising News
A Growing Membership Sue Seitz, our Membership Chair, reports that
we have 23 member families with a total of 30 dogs to date.
Bricks, Bricks, and More Bricks The hot, hot weather has slowed our landscaping plans at the moment, but we plan to have the basic walkway completed with our Memorial Bricks display for the Grand Opening. There have been 24 bricks sold so far at $50 each to aid our fundraising. You can still place your order to add your own signature phrase, special date, or memorial message. If you would like to order one for yourself, please use the Memorial Brick Order Form by clicking on the link shown above.
Shaggy Chic Super Sale Plans are well underway with our sale
on Saturday, September 25 from 9 to 2.
Please call to arrange a pickup time
for Thursday, September 23, or another time that is convenient for you.
If you will be delivering your things to the CAC, the center will be open
on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
This is a great opportunity to get rid of things you no longer need or
want. Call Nancie Guido (3873) or Eileen (2699) for information
and/or to arrange a pickup time.
We'll be sending out another reminder shortly and also be given the opportunity to scoop up a couple of early bargains just for residents of Rarity Bay.
Looking forward to seeing you at the park real soon! |
